Description

This virtual training will provide healthcare professionals with practical, evidence-based guidance on supporting breastfeeding and substance use. The first hour will explore the benefits of breastfeeding, current recommendations, strategies for providing compassionate and effective lactation support, and approaches to reducing stigma. The second hour will focus on the clinical management on breastfeeding among individuals receiving treatment for substance use disorders. Current recommendations regarding breastfeeding, contraindications, medication safety during lactation, and decision-making strategies will all be discussed. This program is being provided in partnership with Wilson County Substance Prevention Coalition (via HRSA RCORP Impact Grant) and the Wilson County Health Department. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) provided financial support for this program.
