Description

This webinar will provide healthcare professionals with an evidence-based overview of medetomidine, an emerging nonopioid adulterant increasingly identified in the illicit fentanyl supply. Participants will be able to recognize the clinical features of medetomidine-associated intoxication and withdrawal, differentiate these presentations from other withdrawal symptoms, and apply appropriate evaluation and management strategies. Early recognition, limitations of routine toxicology testing, and strategies to reduce risk and support harm reduction for people who use drugs that may be exposed to medetomidine-contaminated substances will also be discussed. This program is being provided in partnership with Wilson County Substance Prevention Coalition (via HRSA RCORP Impact Grant). The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) provided financial support for this program.
