Rural Opportunity Institute (ROI) is a Rocky Mount-based nonprofit that builds the capacity of rural communities in eastern North Carolina to heal from generational trauma and design their own solutions for health, safety, connection, and self-determination. Working alongside youth, organizations, and residents across Eastern North Carolina, ROI partners with communities to replace punitive practices with restorative, trauma-informed approaches through programs, training, systems mapping, and community-led policy work.
