From Nash CC to Duke University: Meet Frederick Lindsey

Sometimes a student's next destination says a lot about what was possible at the place where their journey began.

Meet Frederick Lindsey, a 2026 Nash Community College graduate who earned his Associate of Science degree and is now headed to Duke University on a full scholarship as a Benjamin Duke Scholar, where he plans to pursue Public Health and Public Policy.

But Frederick's Nash story is about much more than where he's headed next.

During his time at Nash, Frederick immersed himself in the college experience. Through tutoring math and biology, participating in student government, and becoming involved in organizations connected to his cultural identity and personal interests, he discovered a passion for serving others and developed confidence in his ability to lead.

Frederick also credits the people he encountered at Nash with helping him reach this moment, sharing his gratitude for those who believed in him, encouraged him, and invested in his success.

His story is a powerful example of what Start Here. Go Anywhere. can truly mean.

To our students, Frederick's journey is a reminder to take advantage of the opportunities around you. Get involved. Ask for help. Build relationships. Explore your interests. You never know where those experiences may lead.
