For Immediate Release:

Healthy Holiday by JAMCHA Foundation Launched by Local Nonprofit to Bring Free Primary Care to Local Families This December

Rocky Mount, NC — JAMCHA Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing health equity, improving health literacy, and empowering underserved communities, announces its inaugural community health initiative, Healthy Holiday by JAMCHA Foundation, scheduled for Saturday, December 6th in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

The JAMCHA Foundation is led by Founder and Chairperson, Dr. LaToya McCurdy, a healthcare leader dedicated to advancing health equity. She is supported by Executive Director, Korean Hasan; Secretary, Bianca Revis; and Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer, Lucrecy B. Moore. The Board of Directors include Dr. Donisha Barnes; Mavis Harris; Israel James; and Latricia McWilliams — collectively bringing professional expertise in public health, education, social work, environmental health, nursing, and community outreach and advocacy to drive JAMCHA’s mission forward.

Families across North Carolina continue to experience rising healthcare costs that limit access to essential medical services. The average annual healthcare premium for a family in North Carolina now exceeds $21,000, while the median household income is approximately $50,000 in Nash County and just over $42,000 in Edgecombe County. Additionally, poverty rates remain significantly above the state average, with Nash County at ~17% and Edgecombe County nearing 23%. These conditions present substantial barriers to preventive and primary care.

Healthy Holiday by JAMCHA Foundation will provide free primary care services offered by Dr. LaToya McCurdy and the clinical care team, including: physical exams, wellness visits, chronic disease management, medication management and prescriptions (excluding controlled substances), and more personalized care as clinically indicated. Residents of Nash and Edgecombe Counties, age 18 and older, are invited to register. Appointments will be scheduled in the order completed registration forms are received until capacity is reached. Registration is available at: www.jamcha.org.

Healthy Holiday by JAMCHA Foundation is the first in an expanding series of community health access initiatives that will continue throughout 2026 and beyond. JAMCHA Foundation is currently accepting tax-deductible donations and welcoming community partnerships and volunteers who support their mission.
