Nash CC Receives Clean Financial Audit for Fiscal Year 2025

ROCKY MOUNT, North Carolina (February 10, 2026) – Nash Community College has received a clean financial statement audit from the North Carolina Office of the State Auditor (OSA) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, affirming the college’s continued commitment to sound financial management, transparency and accountability.

North Carolina General Statutes require community colleges to undergo a financial statement audit every two years, which is conducted by the Office of the State Auditor. The purpose of the audit is to provide an independent opinion on whether an institution’s financial statements are materially correct and to identify any material weaknesses in internal controls or instances of noncompliance with applicable laws and regulations.

In its report, the OSA concluded that NCC’s financial statements are accurate and reliable and that the audit found no material weaknesses in internal controls and no instances of reportable noncompliance.

The fiscal year 2025 audit continues a long-standing record of strong financial stewardship at NCC. The college has now received clean audit reports for 15 years, with no findings dating back to 2010.

Promoting Transparency and Public Trust

Financial statement audits play a critical role in promoting public trust, accountability and confidence in the use of public funds. While the audit process is technical in nature, its impact extends to a wide range of stakeholders, including:

  • Students and families, who depend on financial stability to support access to education, scholarships and student services
  • Citizens and public officials, who expect responsible reporting and stewardship of public funds and grants
  • Faculty, staff and administrators, who depend on strong financial health to sustain programs and support long-term planning
  • Accrediting bodies and regulators, who use audited financial statements to assess institutional compliance and viability

A clean audit opinion demonstrates that the college is managing its financial resources responsibly and in alignment with its mission to serve students and the community.

NCC Board of Trustees Chair Russell Proctor noted, “15 years of clean audits is a strong reflection of the College’s commitment to transparency, accountability and responsible stewardship of public resources.”

Proctor expanded on the importance of the financial audit and what it means for all of the students, faculty, staff and community members that the institution services every year.

“This outcome reflects sound financial oversight and a shared commitment to ensuring that every dollar entrusted to the College is used to support students, programs and the long-term stability of the institution. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are proud of the consistency and integrity demonstrated by Nash Community College’s leadership and staff in managing the institution’s finances with care and professionalism.”

Commitment to Responsible Financial Stewardship

Nash Community College’s consistent audit results reflect strong internal controls, effective oversight and a shared commitment across the institution to ethical and responsible financial practices.

The college will continue to uphold the highest standards of financial integrity to ensure resources are managed effectively in support of student success, workforce development and community impact.
