Nash Community College Names Teresa Nelson as New Foundation Lead

ROCKY MOUNT, North Carolina (April 21, 2026) – Nash Community College has announced the appointment of Teresa Nelson as the new executive director of the Nash Community College Foundation, bringing more than 20 years of experience in leadership, community engagement and organizational development to the role.

Stemming from Brunswick Community College she has experience in the North Carolina Community College system.

In this position, Nelson will lead the Foundation’s efforts to support student success through scholarships and fundraising initiatives that advance the mission of NCC.

“We are excited to welcome Teresa Nelson to NCC,” said Dr. Lew K. Hunnicutt, president of NCC. “Her leadership, experience and passion for community engagement will be instrumental in advancing the work of the NCC Foundation. The Foundation plays a critical role in supporting our students and expanding opportunities, and we are confident Nelson will continue to build on that momentum.”

The NCC Foundation serves as a key partner in the college’s mission, providing scholarships, program support and resources that help remove financial barriers for students pursuing their educational and career goals.

Nelson will work closely with college leadership, donors and community stakeholders to strengthen fundraising efforts and expand the Foundation’s reach and impact.

“I am honored to join NCC and the NCC Foundation,” Nelson said. “As a first-generation college graduate who began my journey at a community college as a nontraditional student, I understand the impact education can have. I look forward to working with our community partners to support students and expand access to opportunity.”
