Nash Community College to Host “Career in a Year” Open House
ROCKY MOUNT, North Carolina (March 16, 2026) – Nash Community College will host a Career in a Year Open House on Thursday, April 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Continuing Education and Public Services Building on campus.
The event will highlight NCC’s short-term workforce training opportunities designed to help individuals gain new skills and enter the workforce in as little as one year. Many of these programs can be completed in six months or less.
The open house will provide prospective students and community members the opportunity to explore training programs, meet instructors and staff, and learn how continuing education programs can lead to in-demand careers in a short amount of time.
Attendees will be able to:
- Learn about short-term training opportunities that can be completed in one month, three months, six months or within a year
- Register for classes on site
- See live demonstrations of workforce training programs
- Explore first responder vehicles and equipment
- Speak with college representatives about career pathways and program options
Programs highlighted during the event include training opportunities in fields such as welding, emergency medical services, firefighting, pharmacy technician, HVAC, residential maintenance, electric line construction, culinary arts and more.
The event will also feature a family-friendly atmosphere with food trucks and activities for children. Participating food trucks include Fancy Faye’s Food Truck, Tacos La Costa, Bakers Brew Wagon and Sunset Slush.
In addition, Carolina Family Health Centers, Inc. will provide free health services during the event, including dental screenings, blood pressure screenings and blood sugar checks.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to enter for a chance to win a scholarship toward a continuing education program.
NCC’s Continuing Education programs are designed to help individuals quickly develop the skills needed to enter or advance in the workforce while supporting the region’s workforce needs.
Community members interested in exploring career training opportunities are encouraged to attend the open house and learn how Nash Community College can help them start a new career path in less time than they might expect.
