NC Wesleyan camps draw record attendance

North Carolina Wesleyan University’s summer camps shattered attendance records this year, welcoming an impressive 3,013 participants across a wide variety of programs. From sports and leadership training to youth ministries and academic enrichment, NCWU proved once again that its campus is a thriving hub for summer learning, growth, and community engagement.

The 2025 summer season brought a dynamic mix of camps and events to campus, including:

  • Morehead-Cain Foundation
  • Early College Retreat
  • FCA Football & FCA Volleyball Camps
  • Pfizer Employee Training
  • Pentecostal Youth Camp and Tennessee Mission Camp
  • Shelton Leadership Camp
  • NCWU Sports Camps: Soccer, Football, Basketball, Softball & Volleyball
  • Mathewson Summer Law Camp, funded by Dr. Alfred Mathewson, a Tarboro native
  • Athens Drive Band Camp

Strong Economic Impact
In addition to the educational and community benefits, these camps generated a net revenue of $183,000 for NCWU, plus a percentage of proceeds from on-campus dining services operated by Aramark. This financial success reinforces the importance of summer programming as a valuable contributor to the University’s operations.

Building on Momentum
With record attendance and a wide variety of offerings, NCWU continues to strengthen its reputation as a premier destination for summer camps in Eastern North Carolina. Plans are already underway to expand programming in 2026, ensuring that students, athletes, and organizations have even more opportunities to grow, compete, and connect at NCWU.
